A computer simulation of the flow past a circular cylinder, Reynolds number=100. Karmann vortex shedding can be seen. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the finite element method using the upwind approximation technique based on the choice of up- & downwind points (Tabata-Fujima, 1991).
